Upgrade Your Home with Professional Bathroom Renovations in Wollongong

Walk into a lot of Wollongong homes built back in the 70s, 80s or 90s and you’ll find the same bathroom story. Cracked tiles nobody’s game to touch, a vanity that’s too small for two people getting ready before work, and grout that’s gone black no matter how hard you scrub it. Sound familiar? You’re not alone, mate. Across the Illawarra, from Figtree to Thirroul to Dapto, thousands of homes are sitting on bathrooms that were never built for how families actually live now.
That’s where we come in. We’re a local bathroom renovation team who’ve spent years turning tired, dated bathrooms across Wollongong into spaces homeowners actually love using again. Whether you’re after a full strip-out or a smarter layout that finally makes sense, our bathroom renovations Wollongong locals call on are built to last, built to code, and built around how you live.

What's Included in a Full Bathroom Renovation
When we say full bathroom renovation, we mean the whole job, start to finish, not just a new vanity slapped in and call it a day. Here’s what’s covered when you renovate with us.
Helping You Choose the Right Fixtures & Tiles
Picking tiles and fixtures can feel like the most overwhelming part of the whole renovation, especially with hundreds of options and a budget you don’t want to blow. We sit down with you and narrow things down based on what actually works for your space, your lifestyle and your budget, not just what looks good in a showroom.
That might mean steering you toward a more durable tile for a high-traffic family bathroom, or helping you find a tapware finish that won’t show water marks if you’ve got kids splashing around every morning. We’ve seen what holds up in real Wollongong homes over the years, and we’ll tell you straight if something’s not going to age well, even if it looks nice on the day it’s installed.
Wet Area Compliance — AS 3740 Waterproofing Standards
Every bathroom renovation we complete is carried out in line with AS 3740, the Australian Standard for waterproofing wet areas. This standard sets out exactly how walls, floors and junctions in bathrooms need to be treated to stop water getting where it shouldn’t.
Compliance isn’t optional, and it isn’t something you can really check yourself once tiles are down — which is exactly why it matters that the people doing the work know the standard inside and out. We work to AS 3740 on every single job, regardless of budget or scope, because it’s the difference between a bathroom that lasts and one that causes problems down the track.
Our Bathroom Renovation Process
We’ve laid out our process so you know exactly what’s happening and when, no surprises halfway through.

Bathroom Styles That Suit Wollongong & Illawarra Homes
Coastal: Light, breezy and beach-inspired — think whites, soft blues, natural timber accents and finishes that suit homes near the water at Austinmer, Coledale or Thirroul.
Contemporary: Clean lines, minimal clutter, neutral palettes and sleek fixtures. A popular choice for homeowners after a fresh, modern feel without going overboard.
Hamptons: Shaker-style cabinetry, classic white subway tiles, brass or matte black tapware. A favourite across Wollongong for its timeless, slightly coastal-meets-classic look.
Classic: Timeless tiling, simple fixtures and a layout that prioritises function over trend. Suits older homes where you want a refresh without a full style overhaul.

Budget, Timeframes & What to Organise Before We Start
Budget: A full bathroom renovation in Wollongong typically depends on the size of the room, the fixtures you choose, and whether the layout’s changing. We’ll always give you a clear, itemised quote upfront so you know exactly where the money’s going, no vague estimates.
Timeframes: Most full bathroom renovations take anywhere from two to four weeks from demolition to final fit-off, depending on the scope of the job and whether there’s any unexpected work once we open the walls up.
What to Organise Beforehand
- A temporary bathroom arrangement, whether that’s an ensuite, a second bathroom, or a plan with the neighbours or family nearby
- Any items you want kept from the old bathroom, sorted out before demolition starts
- A clear idea of your must-haves versus nice-to-haves, so decisions during material selection move faster
- Access arrangements for our team, including parking and any pets that might need to be kept clear of the work zone
FAQs About Kitchen Knockdown & Rebuild
How long does a kitchen knockdown and rebuild actually take?
For most Wollongong homes I’m looking at somewhere between six and ten weeks from demolition to final fit-out, depending on how much structural work’s involved. If we’re moving walls or relocating plumbing it pushes toward the longer end, a straightforward strip-out and rebuild with no footprint changes comes in quicker. I’ll give you a proper timeline once I’ve seen the place, not before.
Can I still use my kitchen during the rebuild?
No, once we’re into demolition the kitchen’s out of action completely, there’s no working around that. Most of my Illawarra clients set up a temporary kitchen in the laundry, garage or even outdoors, a bar fridge, microwave and kettle gets most families through it. I’ll talk you through timing the disruptive stages so it lines up with school holidays or whatever works for your house.
Do I need council approval for a kitchen knockdown and rebuild?
It depends on what’s changing, if we’re just doing a strip-out and rebuild within the existing footprint, you’re usually fine without a DA. Soon as we’re moving structural walls, changing the building’s footprint or there’s heritage overlay on the property, which a few of the older Wollongong suburbs do have, council gets involved. I’ll flag this during the site inspection so there’s no surprises once we’re underway.
What happens to the asbestos once it's removed from my house?
Once it’s removed by the licensed team, it gets double-bagged, labelled and taken straight to an approved disposal facility, it’s not going in your regular bin or skip. This is regulated pretty strictly in NSW and for good reason, given how much older housing we’ve got around Corrimal and Fairy Meadow. You don’t need to handle any part of that process, it’s all on us.
Will moving my kitchen's plumbing and electrical cost a lot extra?
It adds to the budget, there’s no way around that, but how much depends on how far things are moving and what’s already there to work with. Older Illawarra homes sometimes have plumbing and wiring that needed replacing anyway, so it’s not always pure added cost, it’s cost that was coming eventually. I’ll break this down clearly in the quote so you’re not guessing at what’s driving the number.
Is a knockdown and rebuild worth it if I'm planning to sell in a few years?
Wollongong’s market rewards a kitchen that actually works, open-plan, decent storage, modern services, buyers notice that straight away walking through. If your current kitchen’s got the layout or structural issues we’ve talked about, a patch-up reno tends to look like exactly that to a buyer, a patch-up. A proper rebuild reads as a kitchen that’s actually done, which matters more here than people expect.
